About the Role
Build and grow a portfolio of commercial clients with strong connections to Pacific Rim markets, identifying opportunities, structuring complex lending solutions, and delivering exceptional client experiences. Experience working with Pacific Rim clients and understanding cross-border business needs and cultural nuances are strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate bank growth through business development and key client relationship management.
- Maintain significant revenue generation from sales and syndications.
- Act as an escalation point for complex client issues, resolving conflicts and maintaining strong client relationships.
- Structure complex deals and secure credit approvals, collaborating with internal and external partners to optimize revenue.
- Develop new business by contacting prospects and clients, and cross-selling bank products and services (credit, trust/investment, cash management).
- Review loan applications and cash management service agreements for accuracy, completeness, and alignment with risk management standards.
- Develop market strategies, identify opportunities, and expand client portfolios.
- Identify key market segments and leverage industry trends to drive business growth.
- Represent the bank at industry forums and conferences, leveraging insights for strategic decision-making.
- Engage with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to align strategies and drive holistic business solutions.
- Prepare reports on team performance, client satisfaction, and market trends, providing insights and recommendations.
- Build and maintain strong long-term relationships with high-value clients, providing strategic financial advice and exceptional service.
- Structure deals, secure credit approvals, negotiate high-value transactions, and identify cross-selling opportunities.
- Analyze market trends, client industry developments, and competitive positioning to inform client solution strategies.
- Collaborate with internal teams to define client-fitting products, solutions, and strategies.
- Identify share of wallet opportunities.
- Leverage analysis tools to grow portfolio exceeding ROE thresholds and proactively evaluate client returns.
- Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, internal controls, and compliance policies, mitigating risk and maintaining service standards.
- Focus primarily on business/group within BMO, with potential for broader enterprise-wide focus.
- Provide specialized consulting, analytical, and technical support.
- Exercise judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve problems.
- Work independently and handle non-routine situations.
- Perform broader work or accountabilities as assigned.
- Apply Risk Management Framework, Risk Culture, and Risk Appetite to make sound, risk-informed decisions, protect assets, and adhere to policies, laws, and regulations.
Requirements
- 7+ years of relevant experience in Relationship Management, Account Management, or Portfolio Management in a corporate or segmented banking environment with sales metrics (preferred).
- Experience working with Pacific Rim clients and understanding cross-border business needs and cultural nuances (strongly preferred).
- Bilingual proficiency in Mandarin, Cantonese, Vietnamese, Korean, or Japanese (preferred).
- Credit Qualifications and associated credit knowledge and skills (if a Credit Qualifiable role).
