About the Role
The Director of Operations will develop and direct strategies to ensure family stability and success, fostering effective relationships with clients and community partners. This role oversees neighborhood transformation initiatives in USI communities, encompassing workforce, housing stability, health, education, and equity. The Director will implement programs and activities aimed at introducing innovative human capital building initiatives to distressed urban neighborhoods, enhancing the self-sufficiency of low-income residents.
Responsibilities
- Implement a results-oriented Action Plan for programs and services across USI communities, based on needs assessment and evidence-based practices.
- Supervise and lead site leadership staff, including Project Managers and senior case managers, in program implementation.
- Track and report program outcomes, ensuring compliance with grant guidelines and achieving program objectives.
- Collaborate with local businesses, educational institutions, and philanthropic communities to support human capital outcomes.
- Establish and maintain relationships with key partners, public agencies, funders, and service providers.
- Lead capacity-building activities to enhance local partners' ability to serve Memphis housing communities.
- Support resource development by identifying partnerships and funding opportunities and assist with grant writing.
- Manage project contracts and budgets, and report expenditures to the Manager of Finance.
- Provide support to Executive Team members on additional projects as assigned.
- Provide resources and knowledge for clients to access capital, including loans for financial goals like housing and consumer products, to build credit, reduce debt, and support wealth growth through entrepreneurship.
- Offer consultation services in financial management and goal-setting.
- Host in-person and virtual seminars for clients seeking financial literacy management resources and capital access.
- Support and promote the development of the USI CDFI client base.
Requirements
- At least five years of progressive experience in the nonprofit or human services sector, managing projects, partnerships, contracts, and supervising teams.
- Provide a persuasive writing sample.
- Experience in community organizing and board development.
- Flexibility to attend evening and weekend events.
- Occasional travel required.

Education Level
- Master’s degree in Social Work, Urban Affairs, Urban Planning, Public Administration, or related field.
