About the Role
PIMCO’s Alternatives platform manages approximately $150 billion across a broad range of strategies and vehicle structures, including evergreen and closed-ended funds. The Alternatives Finance team is responsible for end-to-end financial oversight across the platform, including financial accounting and control, investor reporting, tax structuring and compliance, treasury and liquidity management, and oversight of operational workflows and third-party service providers. As the platform expands, PIMCO seeks a high-caliber finance and accounting professional for a newly created role. This role involves establishing end-to-end ownership of a critical financial function at the intersection of corporate accounting and cost allocation, with responsibility for cross-functional execution. The successful candidate will act as a business-facing owner of key processes, overseeing external service providers, enhancing operational efficiency, and leading strategic initiatives aligned with the firm’s growth priorities. This high-impact role offers significant visibility and the opportunity to own and scale a core function within one of the firm’s key growth areas.
Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end financial and accounting processes within a complex operating model.
- Establish and maintain strong accounting controls, governance, and compliance standards.
- Partner closely with Finance, Accounting, and Fund Controllers on financial reporting, invoicing, and fund-level impacts.
- Serve as a key point of contact for governance bodies, including boards and internal committees.
- Oversee external service providers, ensuring accountability, quality, and timely execution.
- Provide leadership and oversight to evolve vendors from execution-focused to outcome-driven partners.
- Navigate and influence a broad stakeholder base across Finance, Accounting, Alternatives Business Management, Legal, Tax, and Investment teams.
- Lead initiatives aligned with the continued growth and evolution of the Alternatives platform.
- Drive process improvement, scalability, and adoption of new technologies across finance and operational workflows.
- Support expansion into new fund structures, investment strategies, and distribution channels.
- Operate as a self-directed leader, managing multiple priorities in a dynamic, evolving environment.
- Act as a trusted partner to senior stakeholders, bringing both accounting discipline and operational insight.
- Support how the firm deploys resources to enable efficient growth and strong business outcomes.
- Represent PIMCO’s standards and governance expectations across internal and external interactions.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in accounting, controllership, or finance operations.
- Strong foundation in accounting and internal controls.
- Experience operating in complex, multi-stakeholder environments.
- Exposure to investment funds, alternatives, or asset management preferred.
- Experience overseeing external vendors or operating within scaled service models.
- Proven ability to drive projects forward and operate independently with a high degree of accountability.
- Strong communication, judgment, and stakeholder management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to embrace and effectively use new technologies, including AI‑enabled tools.
- Mindset oriented toward continuous innovation, adaptability, and supporting future‑focused business and client expectations.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, including US GAAP.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
- CPA preferred.
