About the Role

AECOM is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join a multidisciplinary, collaborative team. This role supports the growing Federal (Military/DoD) team and various other markets in the Northwest region, including Commercial, Healthcare, Education, Transportation, Sports + Rec, and Science + Tech. The engineer will take on complex challenges, pioneer innovative solutions from strategy to project realization, and contribute to Energy Conservation and Zero Carbon initiatives, focusing on renewable energy projects for high-performance buildings. This position involves decarbonization and electrification efforts, offering focused growth opportunities in sustainable practices and skills enhancement training.

Responsibilities

  • Perform electrical engineering from conceptual design through construction administration and post-occupancy.
  • Write reports for internal and external purposes based on findings.
  • Design building electrical systems for various project types and markets.
  • Stay current on codes and technologies for building electrical systems, including power, lighting, telecommunications, and fire alarm systems.
  • Research, develop, design, specify, and witness testing of electrical systems, equipment, components, and materials.
  • Organize and conduct site visits for data collection and evaluation of electrical systems.
  • Coordinate with clients and multiple disciplines, acting as the electrical engineer point of contact.
  • Ensure projects are delivered within budget and on schedule.
  • Assist in proposal preparation and discipline plans.
  • Manage and work on multiple projects.
  • Mentor and review the work of other team members.
  • Ensure discipline plans meet overall project team requirements for scope and schedule.
  • Attend and present to owners, clients, and architects.

Requirements

  • BA/BS in Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or similar.
  • 6+ years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) Registration.
  • 10+ years experience in designing building electrical systems (preferred).
  • Strong electrical code knowledge including National Electric Code (NEC), Washington State Energy Code (WSEC), Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC), ASHRAE, and International Energy Conservation Code (IECC).
  • Federal project experience, including knowledge of agency standards, procurement processes, and compliance with regulations.
  • Experience with sustainable design and certification in LEED and/or WELL.
  • Renewable energy and Microgrid experience.
  • Power system studies experience utilizing SKM, ETAP, or Easy Power.
  • Lighting calculation experience with Visual, AGI32, or Elumtools.
  • Strong Revit and CAD experience.
  • Ability to attend in-person Day 1 onboarding at an AECOM office location.
