About the Role
Manage, configure, and engineer mainframe databases, performance, and availability as a Mainframe DB2 and IMS Senior Engineer. This role supports the End User Experience & On Prem Infrastructure team, enhancing productivity and collaboration through seamless technology and robust on-prem infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Install new DB2 and IMS versions and apply maintenance.
- Configure DB2 and IMS subsystem parameters for performance optimization.
- Utilize DB2 and IMS tools to monitor database health and application objects.
- Implement DB2 and IMS security controls and collaborate with DBAs on application access management.
- Perform SOX audits on database objects to ensure compliance.
- Coordinate with application and system teams for database enhancements.
- Lead service restoration for DB2, IMS, and associated software product issues.
- Drive continuous improvement in operational resilience, disaster recovery, and business continuity with measurable KPIs.
- Automate tasks and processes to improve efficiency.
- Maintain baseline operations for DB2 and IMS test and production systems, proactively identifying and resolving issues.
- Participate in disaster recovery exercises to support enterprise system recovery and business continuity.
Requirements
- Minimum 3+ years of hands-on experience in mainframe database systems programming support.
- Experience in Database installation, maintenance, and subsystem environment setup.
- Strong knowledge of Database internals and SMP/E product installations.
- Experience with IBM Database tools or Omegamon.
- Experience with reviewing new DB2 and IMS versions for functionality enhancements.
- Experience in handling and recovering of Database Objects.
- Knowledge of Database Log analysis and SMF reporting to identify Database issues.
- Knowledge of mainframe functionalities, including z/OS, MQ, CICS, RACF, and JCLs.
