About the Role

This role is for an innovating, dynamic, and mission-based school that values faculty and students. Faculty members are responsible for facilitating and assessing student learning, supervising students, ensuring safety and policy compliance, and contributing to program development. They teach and model service to others, interact positively with students, offer academic and personal guidance, and uphold the school's Catholic identity. Candidates willing to moderate clubs, coach athletic teams, or serve as retreat leaders are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop rigorous, culturally relevant lessons for predominantly first-generation, low-income students.
  • Incorporate Ignatian pedagogy to design effective classroom experiences.
  • Utilize data-driven instruction and student assessment data analysis.
  • Set and maintain high academic expectations for all students.
  • Design and update course curriculum using backwards planning and assessment data.
  • Foster relationships with families to facilitate open communication.
  • Hold regular office hours to provide additional instruction and support to individual students.
  • Build rapport and trust with students, and redirect student behavior as needed.
  • Develop professionally by collaborating with teachers and leaders, participating in professional developments, and exchanging feedback with school leaders.
  • Commit to the mission of inspiring and preparing students of limited economic resources for college and community leadership.
  • Be actively involved in the School’s religious life and maintain a pastoral attitude toward students.
  • Participate in the school community through supervision duties, retreats, and special events.

Requirements

  • Must complete state certification within the first two years of employment.
  • Teaching in marginalized communities preferred.
  • Training in reading or literacy strategies preferred.
  • Must be able to pass background screening.

Skills

  • Proficiency in Spanish preferred

Experience Level

  • 3-5 years teaching experience preferred

Education Level

  • Bachelor’s Degree is required
  • Master’s Degree preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree in the content area
  • At least 12 credit hours in education
