About the Role

A stylist-in-training at Regis is a temporary 90-day position designed to integrate an unlicensed, future stylist into the salon workplace and to help them learn the business. This role is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service and communicating effectively with management, customers, and co-workers.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver exceptional customer service.
  • Communicate effectively with management, customers, and co-workers.
  • Market and grow the business.
  • Observe other stylists/managers at work and ask relevant questions.
  • Control expenses.
  • Promote and sell services and retail products.
  • Answer telephones.
  • Stock and dust shelves.
  • Sweep hair.
  • Complete all other duties as assigned by manager.
  • Clearly convey a complete understanding of pricing for available services.
  • Coordinate promotional sales displays using ShopTalk.
  • Understand customer needs, greet professionally, escort clients, and offer salon tours.
  • Estimate wait times for scheduled and unscheduled appointments.
  • Handle general complaints and refer customer service issues to the manager.
  • Follow weekly salon schedules as directed by Salon Manager.
  • Correctly charge for services rendered and products purchased, including proper discounting.
  • Safeguard company assets by adhering to company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain and uphold safety standards.
  • Attend work timely and consistently, including mandatory staff meetings and training sessions.
  • Adhere to all corporate policies, procedures, and work rules.
  • Handle all POS transactions, including opening and closing the register.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited cosmetology school.
  • Obtain the necessary license(s) to perform salon services within or before 90 days of hire-date.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic salon environment.
  • Good time management skills.
  • Good judgment.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills to communicate professionally and courteously.
  • Computer knowledge, including point-of-sale systems and data entry.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
  • Possess a valid appropriate license in the applicable state of employment (for promotion).
  • Ability to perform licensed duties, including cutting, styling, coloring, wax treatments, washing, and perming hair (for promotion).
  • Demonstrate Regis values of honesty, accountability, integrity, and respect (for promotion).
  • Ability to lift up to 10 lbs frequently.
  • Ability to lift 10-25 lbs occasionally.
  • Ability to stand continuously throughout the day.
  • Ability to reach continuously, alternating between shoulder level and above shoulder level height.
  • Ability to push and pull styling chair occasionally.
  • Ability to tolerate continuous exposure to various chemicals and fragrances.
  • Ability to climb ladder/stepstool occasionally.
  • Ability to communicate with customers regarding services and needs.
  • Basic reading, writing, and mathematical skills.
  • Ability to travel occasionally for mandatory meetings and training, including overnight.
