About the Role
A stylist-in-training at Regis is a temporary 90-day position designed to integrate an unlicensed, future stylist into the salon workplace and to help them learn the business. It is the stylist-in-training’s responsibility to deliver exceptional customer service and to communicate effectively with management, customers, and co-workers.
Responsibilities
- Market and grow the business.
- Observe stylists and managers at work, asking relevant questions.
- Provide exceptional customer service.
- Control expenses.
- Promote and sell services and retail products.
- Answer telephones, stock and dust shelves, and sweep hair.
- Complete all other duties as assigned by manager.
- Communicate effectively with management, customers, and co-workers.
- Maintain and uphold salon safety standards.
- Attend work timely and consistently, including mandatory staff meetings and training sessions.
- Adhere to all corporate policies, procedures, and work rules.
- Handle all point-of-sale transactions, including opening and closing the register.
Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited cosmetology school.
- Obtain necessary license(s) to perform salon services within or before 90 days of hire-date.
- Ability to work in a dynamic salon environment.
- Possess good time management skills.
- Demonstrate good judgment.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Possess well-developed interpersonal skills for professional and courteous communication.
- Have computer knowledge, including point-of-sale systems and data entry.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
- Ability to perform licensed duties, including cutting, styling, coloring, providing wax treatments, and washing and perming hair.
- Demonstrate Regis values: honesty, accountability, integrity, and respect.
- Ability to frequently lift up to 10 lbs.
- Ability to occasionally lift 10-25 lbs.
- Ability to stand continuously throughout the day.
- Ability to continuously reach, alternating between shoulder level and above shoulder level height.
- Ability to occasionally push and pull to move styling chairs.
- Tolerance for continuous exposure to various chemicals and fragrances.
- Ability to occasionally climb a ladder/stepstool.
- Ability to communicate with customers regarding services and needs.
- Possess basic reading, writing, and mathematical skills.
- Ability to occasionally travel for mandatory meetings and training sessions, including overnight travel.
