About the Role
This full-time position supports the North Austin location, operating Monday-Friday 8:30am-5pm with no weekends, call, or major holidays. The role level (1, 2, or Sr) is based on candidate experience. Responsibilities include general business office functions such as billing, claim submissions, charge capture, payment posting, insurance verification, pre-authorization, patient counseling on payment issues, and account follow-up. The role also assists patients with community resources like housing, transportation, and financial support, while adhering to the US Oncology Compliance Program.
Responsibilities
- Ensure accurate and timely entry of patient insurance, demographic, and eligibility information into the system.
- Register patients in the system as needed.
- Collect and review patient insurance information and complete insurance forms.
- Collect co-pays, deductibles, and other out-of-pocket amounts at the time of visit.
- Confirm patient insurance verification and eligibility.
- Obtain pre-authorization for services and/or referrals.
- Assess patient financial requirements and advise patients and families on insurance benefits, co-pays, and financial obligations.
- Post line items and adjustments to patient accounts.
- Balance receipts, reconcile daily work batches, and prepare audit trails.
- Prepare deposits for the bank as needed.
- Review Explanation of Benefits (EOB) for consistency.
- Submit, file, and process all claims for payment.
- Research and resolve claim delay issues.
- Resolve patient questions and complaints regarding insurance billing and adjust accounts as necessary.
- Resubmit claims and process all insurance/patient correspondence.
- Provide all documentation to expedite payment.
- Follow-up on assigned accounts.
- Utilize collection techniques to maintain current accounts, including monitoring for delinquent payments.
- Set up financial arrangements with patients as necessary.
- Assist patients with researching and obtaining community resources including housing, transportation, drugs, pharmaceutical supplies, and financial resources.

- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 0-3 years of medical business office experience (Level 1)
- Minimum 3 to 5 years medical business office experience (Level 2)
- Minimum five years medical business office experience (Level Sr)
