About the Role

Polimorphic is transforming government services with an AI-native platform, deployed across 100+ agencies, backed by top investors. This role offers the opportunity to genuinely impact lives by solving critical government customer service problems. As a Senior Account Executive, you will build something extraordinary at a hypergrowth, venture-backed company, owning a territory, building pipeline, closing deals, and shaping market strategy. This role requires proactive prospecting, relationship building, constructing business cases, navigating complex buying processes, and closing deals for a novel solution with 3-9 month sales cycles. Success depends on maintaining a clean pipeline, timely follow-ups, and pressure-testing champions.

Responsibilities

  • Bring energy, urgency, and creative thinking to every deal while managing 30+ active opportunities.
  • Think from first principles, questioning government procurement assumptions to find faster paths to 'yes'.
  • Sell the platform, not point solutions, establishing the anchor in the first conversation and deepening discovery.
  • Build quantitative business cases for city managers and rapport with frontline department heads.
  • Treat objections as information, digging in, reframing, and finding angles to move deals forward.
  • Pressure-test champions by co-creating pricing with buyers.
  • Operate with the intensity of someone building their own business, maintaining daily urgency.
  • Be coachable, taking feedback and changing behavior in response.
  • Develop and execute a strategic sales plan for your region.
  • Prospect relentlessly into state and local government accounts through research, networking, outbound campaigns, and creative outreach.
  • Manage the full sales cycle from first conversation to a signed contract, qualifying hard, building urgency, and driving deals to close.
  • Build a real pipeline with a minimum 3x coverage, understanding deal blockers, champions, decision criteria, timelines, and next concrete moves.
  • Maximize company investments in marketing, sales development, solutions consultants, and engineering for your territory.
  • Treat Salesforce as a system of truth, keeping MEDDPICC fields current, documenting next steps, populating contact roles, and honest close dates.
  • Consistently send timely, tailored follow-ups after every interaction with named next steps and explicit agendas.
  • Multi-thread every deal.
  • Forecast with discipline.
  • Articulate the cost of inaction on every active deal.
  • Understand buyers' budgets, pain points, and political dynamics, translating this into compelling, quantitative cases.
  • Deliver sharp product presentations and demonstrations tailored to each stakeholder.
  • Sell the vision of a unified government services platform.
  • Negotiate and close deals that drive growth, avoiding discounting when stronger discovery is possible.
  • Provide accurate, rigorous sales forecasts and pipeline reports with radical transparency.
  • Funnel market intelligence back into the organization to shape product roadmap, marketing strategy, and competitive positioning.
  • Stay sharp on industry trends, competitor moves, and market shifts, sharing learnings across the team.
  • Collaborate with marketing on region-specific campaigns and represent Polimorphic at industry events, conferences, and trade shows.
  • Contribute to building the playbook, shaping the go-to-market motion with voice, creativity, and field learnings.
  • Be comfortable operating in ambiguity, building the playbook as you go and iterating based on learnings.
  • Challenge myths and crutches that slow down government sales, bringing an outsider's perspective.
  • Think like a business owner, proposing market approaches and needed resources.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of software sales experience with a proven track record of exceeding targets.
  • Demonstrated success selling complex, consultative solutions with multi-stakeholder buying processes and 6 to 12 month cycles.
  • Enterprise experience strongly preferred.
  • Agentic AI experience is a plus.
  • Evidence of operating a real sales process, managing 30+ active deals, keeping CRM current, and prioritizing follow-ups.
  • A first-principles thinker capable of constructing quantitative ROI arguments and building personal rapport.
  • Comfort prospecting and building pipelines from scratch, demonstrating self-motivation and proactivity.
  • Documented coachability, including examples of taking feedback and changing behavior.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to travel throughout your region as needed (likely 20 to 30%) without pipeline slippage.
  • An entrepreneurial, creative, 'can do' spirit, energized by building.
  • Experience at a venture-backed, high-growth startup (Series A through C) strongly preferred.
  • Experience selling platform or multi-product solutions, including land-and-expand and upsell motions, strongly preferred.
  • Working fluency with a structured sales methodology (MEDDPICC, MEDDIC, Challenger, etc.) strongly preferred.
  • Private sector sales background with hunger and intensity strongly preferred.
  • Government sales experience is a bonus, not a requirement.
  • Comfort operating across industries and pivoting into new verticals strongly preferred.
  • A genuine orientation toward impact, motivated by changing lives.
