About the Role

The GSE Mechanic is responsible for the service and maintenance of all Ground Service Equipment at a designated station, ensuring safe and reliable equipment that complies with all local and governing laws for Swissport Ramp and other service agencies.

Responsibilities

• Operate and drive all types of GSE equipment (motorized and non-motorized).
• Perform preventive maintenance on ground support equipment per established schedules.
• Provide troubleshooting and diagnostic assessment of ground support equipment.
• Report to work during snow, ice, and cold weather.
• Work overtime during weather emergencies.
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions year-round.
• Remove malfunctioning ground support equipment from service and ensure proper diagnosis and repair before return to service.
• Respond to emergency service calls and accidents involving ground support equipment.
• Complete all maintenance and repair documentation according to requirements.
• Comply with all federal, provincial, municipal, airport authority, and carrier security requirements.
• Maintain a valid motor vehicle driver's license for airside and non-airside operations.
• Follow all safety guidelines (WCB, EPA, WHIMIS, SP management).
• Maintain a clean and serviceable GSE shop and equipment, reporting deficiencies to management.
• Fuel equipment while adhering to safety and environmental requirements.
• Liaise professionally with Ramp management, customers, and staff.
• Work independently and report daily to shop leads.

Requirements

• Basic hydraulic knowledge.
• Willingness to learn hydraulic systems.
• Airport deicing training required.
• Valid driver's license.
• Trade school training or mechanical background preferred.
• Good oral and verbal communication skills.
• Good computer skills.
• Willingness to clean and maintain a safe workshop.
• Willingness to travel for training or to assist other stations with GSE needs.
