About the Role
The Lead Technical Trainer is responsible for managing day-to-day operations, customer education, and other engagements at a Viega Experience Center (VEC). This position encompasses oversight of training programs, facility management, tours, and events to ensure a seamless and impactful customer experience. Interacts with a variety of customers to deliver tailored education and foster an engaging adult learning environment.
Responsibilities
- Conduct on-site tours and trainings for Viega customers, flexing content and style for the target audience.
- Facilitate training sessions using hands-on activities, learning displays, online job aids, and PowerPoint presentations.
- Manage customer relationships during and after training courses to ensure satisfaction.
- Explain and demonstrate expert knowledge in all Viega systems and applications, articulate company services, and offer solutions to customer problems.
- Discuss various industry aspects including business skills, supply chain, sales, design, and construction processes.
- Speak in both general and detailed technical terms within the same presentation.
- Oversee the customer experience at the assigned location and collaborate with Viega field sales or other SMEs for a best-in-class training experience.
- Stay current with industry trends, referencing relevant studies, articles, and white papers to bolster Viega's competitive positioning.
- Provide backup support for in-person customer education at other Viega Seminar Centers, Viega Experience Centers, Trade Shows, or travel events.
- Support the local sales team with special events held at the assigned location or in the field.
- Manage inventory of training materials, tools, and equipment at the assigned location, ensuring availability and functionality.
- Maintain Viega workshops, tools, and displays for optimal operation and utilization during training sessions.
- Report facility utilization metrics to Training Leadership and explore new engagement methods to encourage building utilization.
- Design and construct piping displays as required for training sessions or promotional purposes.
- Independently manage a comprehensive schedule while effectively collaborating with cross-functional teams across multiple time zones.
- Collaborate with external vendors to ensure deliverables meet Viega’s quality standards and specifications.
- Assist with classroom preparation and cleanup.
- Travel up to 20% of the time.
- Attend meetings as required and/or assigned.
- Perform other duties as required and/or assigned.
Requirements
- Proficient in common office equipment and software, including computers, printers, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to explain complex concepts to diverse adult learners in an engaging, entertaining, and informative manner.
- Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to effectively partner with key stakeholders and tactfully exercise influence across the organization.
- Effective communication, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- Exceptional written, verbal, and listening communication skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Outstanding presentation, public speaking, instruction, and training skills, with an emphasis on delivering impactful and professional sessions.
- Analytical and problem-solving abilities to develop effective solutions to challenges.
- Excellent troubleshooting and decision-making skills to ensure quick and accurate resolution of issues.
- Ability to deliver exceptional service while maintaining a positive company image and attitude in all interactions.
- Effectively lead and motivate employees.
- Bilingual skills (French Canadian or Spanish, depending on location) preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 5-7 years of related industry experience, preferably as a plumber, pipefitter, HVAC technician, or working directly for Viega, required.
- Previous work experience in training, showroom, sales, or related experience required.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered in lieu of these requirements.
