About the Role
Central 1 is seeking a Data Engineer for a 6-month term position to support evolving data needs and shape the use of Microsoft Fabric and modern cloud-based data solutions. The role involves being a key Microsoft Fabric subject matter expert, designing, building, and optimizing data pipelines and solutions to transform data into actionable insights. You will collaborate with various teams to create scalable data platforms that enhance decision-making and member experiences.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines using Microsoft Fabric and Azure Data Factory (ADF).
- Ensure data security and compliance by implementing best practices such as RBAC, encryption, and secure credential management.
- Collaborate with data governance stakeholders to enforce data quality standards, lineage tracking, and metadata management.
- Design and implement monitoring solutions using Azure-native services for platform reliability and performance.
- Deliver data solutions in alignment with approved architecture and established design standards.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Develop, configure, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps for automated deployment.
- Produce and maintain comprehensive documentation in Confluence.
- Ensure adherence to ITIL-based processes for incident and change management using ServiceNow.
- Proactively drive operational excellence by identifying recurring issues and optimizing workflows.
- Conduct peer code reviews through pull requests to ensure code quality.
- Develop, maintain, and optimize Power BI solutions, including dashboards, reports, and data models.
- Deliver against project commitments by contributing to the design, development, and implementation of data engineering solutions.
- Perform additional duties as required.
- Participate in 24x7 on-call responsibilities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
- 4+ years of experience in data engineering roles.
- Hands-on experience in Azure cloud platforms.
- Strong proficiency in Azure Data Factory (ADF), Microsoft Fabric, T-SQL, and Azure Storage services.
- Proficiency in SQL and Python for developing data transformation and processing workflows.
- Experience designing and building data lakes and data warehouses.
- Strong understanding of ETL/ELT concepts, data pipeline design, and orchestration patterns.
- Experience applying DevOps practices to data solutions, including CI/CD implementation using Azure DevOps.
- Experience integrating financial systems and handling sensitive data (e.g., PII) in compliance with regulatory and security standards.
- Proficiency in Power BI, including Power BI Desktop, Service, and Gateway.
- Strong expertise in DAX, Power Query (M language), and data modeling techniques.
- Experience working with relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, Azure SQL) and optimizing query performance.
- Proven ability to translate business requirements into clear technical specifications and scalable data solutions.
- Solid understanding of IT operations, support processes, and enterprise environments.
- Well-developed analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills.
- Experience with collaboration and delivery tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Azure DevOps.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to manage priorities and adapt to changing business needs.
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate, Microsoft Certified: Fabric Data Engineer Associate, or equivalent certifications (Preferred).
- Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate, Microsoft Certified: Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate, or equivalent certifications (Preferred).
- Experience with data transformation frameworks such as dbt (Preferred).
- Experience integrating Power BI with other Microsoft products (e.g., Teams, SharePoint) (Preferred).
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and delivery tools (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps) (Preferred).
- Previous experience within financial services environments (Preferred).
- Good understanding of ITIL-based processes, including Incident, Problem, and Change Management (Preferred).
