About the Role

The independent auditor evaluates the performance of certification bodies collaborating with the Rainforest Alliance Certification Program to ensure consistency, credibility, and compliance with assurance procedures and protocols, safeguarding the integrity of the organization's standards.

Responsibilities

• Conduct shadow, review, desk, and documentary audits to monitor auditor and certification body performance and compliance with Standards and Protocols.
• Conduct on-site inspections to verify compliance by certificate holders.
• Participate in investigation audits.
• Review audit reports prepared by other auditors.
• Review corrective action plans or other documents prepared by the certification body.
• Train other independent APO auditors.
• Perform other tasks related to improving RA's certification body assurance program, including document review, template development, and guide creation.
• Conduct audits of Certification Bodies with the Rainforest Alliance Certification Program, RA 2020.
• Follow up on activities resulting from APO audits.
• Participate in training other independent auditors for APO on applicable audit procedures when required.
• Provide feedback to Rainforest Alliance for the development and implementation of the monitoring program for CSOs.
• Provide complete information and pricing to support the assessment system and consistent scoring of certification body performance.

Requirements

• Minimum 10 years of experience as a lead auditor in certification systems related to applicable GAP cultivation and/or environmental standards such as Global GAP, national standards, Organic, UTZ, Rainforest Alliance, RSPO, Fairtrade, ISO 14001.
• Possess a bachelor's or master's degree in agronomic engineering, agronomy, environmental sciences, social sciences, international development, or related fields.
• Knowledge of the applicability of national and local laws and regulations, and the ability to interpret and apply them during audits.
• Certified social auditor (e.g., GRASP, ETI, SMETA, SA8000, APSCA).
• Certified and extensive knowledge and experience in ISO 9001, ISO 17065, ISO 22000, or ISO 14001.
• Proficiency in Spanish, both oral and written.
• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact cross-culturally, linguistically, and diplomatically with diverse audiences at all organizational levels.
• Initiative and attention to detail.
• Availability for international travel.
• Must provide all required information in the proposal and respond clearly and concisely to all points.
• Proposals and/or additional information received after the submission deadline will be subject to rejection.
• Incomplete proposals may be rejected at RA's discretion.
• RA reserves the right to request additional information at any point during the hiring process.
• RA is free to make multiple or no selections and reserves the right to cancel the hiring.
• All proposal costs are the responsibility of the offeror and will not be reimbursed by RA.
• Offeror is responsible for identifying any confidential or proprietary information in their proposal.
• Submit CV, list of executed audits (audit record), and cover letter.
• Submit daily rate in USD and a cost calculation basis.
