About the Role

Lead food preparation, production, and presentation in the kitchen, ensuring high standards of food quality and consistency. Manage workstation setup, organization, cleanliness, and sanitation. Supervise and mentor junior cooks, ensuring efficient kitchen operations. Handle complex cooking tasks, lead by example, and collaborate with kitchen leadership to maintain exceptional culinary standards. This senior role requires advanced culinary skills, leadership, and the ability to manage high-stress, high-volume kitchen environments.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, execute daily prep, and organize workstation.
  • Prepare and store food items for station, adhering to company standards.
  • Maintain proper cooking techniques and consistent preparation and presentation of menu items.
  • Prepare or assist in preparing complete meals, including soups, meats, gravies, vegetables, desserts, salads, and baked goods.
  • Receive and store kitchen goods.
  • Manage shared items like condiments, dressings, salsas, and soups.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of work area and kitchen, including equipment, counters, tools, and waste areas.
  • Assist in cleaning kitchen areas, equipment maintenance, and inventory control.
  • Communicate with Executive Chef or Sous Chef regarding product needs or food quality/presentation issues.
  • Assist in menu planning, recipe development, and product testing.
  • Assist in preparing and serving meals for specific dietary needs or restrictions.
  • Prepare complete meals for small groups or special events.
  • Take charge of a shift in the absence of a Sous Chef.
  • Supervise and instruct junior cooks and team members.
  • Check supplies and groceries received in work area.
  • Oversee expediting process, ensuring timely delivery of orders with proper quality, portioning, and presentation.
  • Contribute to recipe creation and modification, provide insights on menu applications, participate in menu planning, and attend relevant meetings.
  • Interact professionally with members and guests, accommodating changes and last-minute requests.
  • Support colleagues and foster a positive team environment, proactively assisting members and guests to ensure service delivery.
  • Address and resolve member and guest complaints professionally, notify management of issues, and practice effective service recovery.
  • Complete additional duties as assigned by management.
  • Follow all company, club, and department policies, procedures, and instructions.
  • Maintain professionalism and commitment to excellence in interactions with members, colleagues, and staff.
  • Follow safe working practices, ensure compliance with safety guidelines, and encourage others to do the same.
  • Take initiative in personal and professional growth and maintain required certifications.
  • Address and resolve challenges using available resources, collaborating with regional and corporate teams.
  • Attend daily briefings and actively engage in required activities.
  • Wear a clean, neat uniform meeting club standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in a kitchen environment.
  • Valid Food Handler Certifications as required by state and city regulations.
  • Strong communication skills with ability to follow instructions accurately.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and perform physical activities for extended periods.
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures and environments, with potential exposure to dust, fumes, or gases.
  • Ability to climb ladders, squat, kneel, reach, grasp, twist, bend, and fold/unfold.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 100 lbs occasionally.
  • Effective communication skills, including talking, hearing, and sufficient visual acuity.
  • Adherence to weekly schedule attendance requirements.
  • Availability for additional hours, including weekends and/or holidays, to meet deadlines.
