About the Role
The Senior Software Test Engineer will join the NI ADG Customer Centric Solutions Team to develop custom engineering solutions, enabling the sale of standard NI products. This role involves defining, designing, deploying, and sustaining tailored NI products for large-scale turnkey engineering solutions, working with customers, sales, engineering teams, and partners. Responsibilities include developing instrument drivers, test sequences, and applications using LabVIEW and TestStand for custom test systems, providing design guidance, and supporting customer engineering teams with documentation.
Responsibilities
- Interact with customers, staff, partners, and suppliers to design, implement, and sustain custom solutions.
- Define and implement system test plans, manage milestones, and conduct reviews to ensure system requirements and deployment readiness.
- Verify developed tests for compliance and requirements coverage.
- Travel domestically and internationally as needed for project objectives.
- Work on custom engineering opportunities to enable standard NI product sales.
- Define, document, design, deploy, and sustain tailored NI products for large-scale turnkey engineering solutions.
- Develop instrument drivers, test sequences, and applications using LabVIEW and TestStand for NI and third-party test equipment.
- Interface with Systems Architects and Electrical Engineering to provide strategic design implementation guidance for system testability.
- Provide handoff and direct support for software test applications to customer engineering teams, including documentation.
Requirements
- B. S. Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other Engineering discipline from an accredited institution.
- 5+ years of experience developing test software using LabVIEW/TestStand.
- Experience developing automated test software using PXI chassis and interfacing with analog I/O cards, digital I/O cards, DMMs, oscilloscopes, National Instrument’s switching and signal routing systems, data acquisition devices, power supplies, RF analyzers, and RF power sensors.
- Knowledge of hardware interfaces, such as GPIB, USB, Ethernet, and serial communication protocols.
- Understanding of high-level programming languages (LabVIEW, TestStand, C/C++/C#, Python).
- Strong work ethic and drive to succeed.
- Ability to work effectively in a diverse, multi-cultural group development environment.
- Ability to problem-solve effectively, diagnose technical issues, and propose reasonable solutions.
- Ability to take initiative, be a self-starter, and work independently.
- Ability to quickly learn applicable technology, systems, and products.
- Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or protected individual as defined by 22 CFR §120) due to access to export-controlled technical data under ITAR.
