About the Role
Lead MaintainX's Platform division, which includes seven foundational teams, to define how a high-growth engineering organization operates at scale. This manager-of-managers role focuses on owning the roadmap, setting engineering standards, and driving the AI-native platform strategy.
Responsibilities
- Own the roadmap and operating model for Platform Engineering, setting division-level priorities and managing cross-team dependencies.
- Lead and develop Software Development Managers, coaching them on people development, technical judgment, and organizational effectiveness.
- Set engineering standards for all product teams, including framework conventions, reliability targets, compliance posture, and CI/CD health.
- Drive the AI-native platform strategy, ensuring the organization leverages AI Builder's capabilities.
- Own division-level reliability, including SLO definitions, incident response frameworks, and on-call health.
- Partner with the CTO and peer engineering leaders on organizational design, architectural decisions, and headcount planning.
- Represent Platform Engineering to the business, translating infrastructure investments into engineering velocity, developer experience, and customer trust.
Requirements
- 10+ years in software engineering with 5+ years in engineering leadership.
- 2+ years managing managers across multiple teams.
- Technical depth in at least two of: distributed systems, backend or mobile frameworks, platform engineering, reliability engineering.
- Track record of owning platform or infrastructure-focused teams at a growth-stage B2B SaaS company.
- Demonstrated impact on engineering velocity.
- AI-forward mindset, setting direction for teams building on LLMs and agentic workflows.
- Systems thinker who identifies and eliminates organizational bottlenecks.
- Strong communicator capable of representing platform complexity to stakeholders.
