About the Role

As Senior Manager, Operational Risk, you will provide Line two leadership across Pepper Money, overseeing the effectiveness of operational risk management and acting as a trusted risk partner to the business. The role focuses on incident and issue governance, root cause and thematic analysis, risk-in-change oversight, business partnership, and translating operational risk data into clear, meaningful insights for senior management and governance forums. You will also lead and develop a team of operational risk professionals, playing an important role in strengthening Pepper’s risk culture and capability.

Responsibilities

  • Providing senior Line two oversight of operational risk management across the business, ensuring risks are managed in line with Pepper’s Risk Management Framework and Risk Appetite
  • Acting as a senior risk partner to executive and business leaders, providing credible, proportionate and commercially informed challenge
  • Overseeing the governance and quality of risk and control management activities, including review and challenge of Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSA)
  • Overseeing the governance and quality of incident and issue management, including investigation, root cause analysis, remediation and escalation
  • Translating incident, issue, RCSA and control data into clear, actionable insights and emerging risk themes for senior management and governance forums
  • Coordinating operational risk engagement for material projects and change initiatives, ensuring risks are identified, assessed and managed throughout delivery
  • Leading, coaching and developing operational risk team members, building capability, consistency and confidence in risk judgement
  • Contributing to broader risk and compliance initiatives and the ongoing uplift of Pepper’s risk maturity

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in operational risk, compliance, assurance or related roles within financial services
  • Experience providing second-line risk oversight, business partnering and senior-level challenge
  • Strong experience with incident and issue management, root cause analysis and remediation governance
  • Experience supporting major projects or change initiatives from a risk perspective
  • Proven people leadership experience, including coaching and developing risk professionals
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders
