About the Role
This Safety Ambassador role is ideal for outgoing, friendly individuals who enjoy working outdoors and meeting new people. It offers a great opportunity for retirees, veterans, and graduating high school seniors seeking their first job.
Responsibilities
- Patrol assigned zone on foot or bike to deter unwanted behavior and activity.
- Provide information, assistance, and directions to pedestrians and visitors, maintaining a positive, professional demeanor.
- Monitor for unwanted behaviors or criminal activity, report to local authorities, and accurately describe persons, vehicles, and identifiers.
- Request compliance from individuals violating low-level quality of life crimes like panhandling, loitering, or disruptive behavior.
- Engage pedestrians with friendly greetings to provide directions and city information.
- Conduct specified visits to zone businesses to share information and gather contact details.
- Complete basic daily reports, requiring proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing English.
Requirements
- CA Guard Card required
- California Driver's License with a clean driving record (preferred)
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Ability to walk or traverse continuously during an eight-hour shift
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Ability to speak, read, and write English for report creation
Skills
- Hospitality skills
- Proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing English
- Ability to articulate accurate descriptions of persons, vehicles, and identifiers
