About the Role

Superhuman is developing an AI productivity platform, and Front-End Engineers are crucial for building user interfaces that integrate AI capabilities across various applications, including Chrome extensions, desktop apps, document editors, and inbox experiences. This role involves unique challenges such as real-time AI content rendering, designing inline agent suggestions, and creating no-code AI agent builder tools, requiring expertise in state orchestration across multiple surfaces to deliver a consistent experience to millions of users. Engineers have the freedom to innovate and influence the product roadmap as AI-powered features scale.

Responsibilities

  • Build interfaces for AI-powered products used by millions, including real-time chat experiences, inline agent suggestions, document editors, and agent builder tools.
  • Design and implement rich, responsive UI using React and TypeScript to create refined and elegant user interfaces.
  • Work across the Superhuman product suite, including Go, Mail, Docs, Grammarly, or enterprise solutions.
  • Target high availability for consumer and enterprise customers.
  • Address complex interaction design problems such as streaming content, intricate state management, and multi-surface interactions.
  • Collaborate with Product, Design, and ML/AI teams to translate AI capabilities into intuitive user experiences.
  • Contribute to an engineering culture emphasizing documentation, testing, and user experience.
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers on the team.

Requirements

  • 7 years of experience in front-end development.
  • Expert-level knowledge of TypeScript (and/or JavaScript), HTML, and CSS.
  • Extensive experience with ReactJS (or similar UI frameworks) and modern web client development and testing tools.
  • Excellent software engineering fundamentals, including knowledge of algorithms and data structures.
  • Comfort working with AI-powered features, such as building UI for LLM-generated content, streaming responses, or agentic workflows.
  • Prior experience integrating AI/ML into product surfaces is a plus.
  • Fluency with AI coding tools (Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, etc.) and a perspective on their impact on software development.
  • Experience with browser extensions, cross-platform web clients, or shipping front-end code across multiple surfaces (web, desktop, mobile) is a plus.
  • Deep understanding of continuous integration and delivery methods.
  • Strong product instincts, with a focus on end-user experience and quality.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal guidance.
  • Proactively manage priorities across multiple projects.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
