About the Role

Provide consistent leadership in the financial area, guiding and training accounting staff. Focus on business profitability, accurate and timely financial reporting, internal control, regulatory compliance, and safeguarding assets.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Director of Finance with timely preparation of monthly financial statements.
  • Prepare, monitor, and accurately record daily hotel revenues via Income Journal, identifying budget and prior year variances.
  • Monitor and control hotel operations, cash flow, and operating forecasts.
  • Maintain timely interaction with Department Heads under Director of Finance guidance to ensure operational control.
  • Prepare monthly bank and general ledger account reconciliations.
  • Supervise accounting department staff.
  • Ensure compliance with Highgate Accounting Policies, Procedures, and internal controls.
  • Manage and communicate issues related to receivables, payables, daily cash balances, and timely fund deposits.
  • Monitor hotel revenues and expenses, ensuring accurate recording per Highgate Hotel guidelines; investigate and critique variances, offering improvement methodologies.
  • Analyze financial data and operations to assist Director of Finance and advise Department Heads on financial objectives.
  • Hire, train, supervise, and develop staff, including coaching, counseling, and discipline, under Director of Finance supervision.
  • Prepare special reports and statements as requested.
  • Perform other special projects and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of progressive hospitality finance management experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Accounting.
  • Ability to work long hours when required.
