About the Role

Dorsia seeks an Automation Engineer to ensure platform reliability through robust automated testing and identify repetitive, manual, and error-prone workflows for automation. The ideal candidate is product-minded, comfortable with full problem scope, biased toward shipping, has a low tolerance for toil, and prioritizes automation over manual tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain automated test suites across unit, integration, and end-to-end layers for core products.
  • Own and evolve the test automation framework, including tools like Maestro, Playwright, Cypress, or equivalent API testing approaches.
  • Integrate automated tests into the CI/CD pipeline and maintain a clean, trustworthy build signal.
  • Partner with Engineers and Product Managers to define and validate acceptance criteria for new features.
  • Monitor test runs for flakiness and failures, driving durable improvements.
  • Contribute to test strategy and coverage planning, focusing on high-risk and high-impact surfaces.
  • Proactively identify repetitive, manual, or error-prone workflows across engineering, ops, support, and GTM.
  • Design and implement automations using AI tools, LLMs for classification, summarization, routing, and generation.
  • Utilize low/no-code platforms like Zapier, Make, n8n, or Retool for automations.
  • Develop lightweight Python or TypeScript scripts to connect systems.
  • Use AI-assisted coding to prototype quickly, then harden promising prototypes into maintainable, observable production systems.
  • Integrate automations with existing team tools, including Slack, CRMs, ticketing systems, and internal APIs.
  • Work with stakeholders to map processes, define requirements, and iterate toward effective solutions.
  • Ensure automations and test systems are reliable, debuggable, and well-documented.
  • Implement monitoring and alerting for critical automations, covering error rates, latency, and failure notifications.
  • Own the full lifecycle of automations: from idea through prototype, production, iteration, and eventual deprecation.
  • Regularly review and prune unused, flaky, or low-value automations to manage surface area.
  • Work closely with product, engineering, and operations to prioritize automation based on actual impact.
  • Communicate tradeoffs clearly, including build versus buy and automation complexity versus benefit.
  • Help establish an automation-first mindset across the team, encouraging systemic thinking and reusable workflows.
  • Share knowledge through documentation and playbooks clear enough for non-engineers to follow and build on.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a QA automation, software engineering, or workflow automation role.
  • Strong hands-on experience with test automation frameworks such as Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, or equivalent.
  • Comfortable writing Python and TypeScript/JavaScript to produce clean, maintainable, production-grade code.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and a track record of keeping build signals reliable.
  • Demonstrated ability to ship internal automations using low/no-code platforms, LLM-powered tooling, and scripting.
  • Solid understanding of APIs and how to connect systems not designed to communicate.
  • Strong written communication, including documentation that is useful long after the sprint ends.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, complex environment involving cross-functional projects.
  • A genuine interest in the Dorsia product, the member experience, and building for hospitality.
  • Prior experience with reservation system integrations (SevenRooms, Resy, OpenTable), dining payments infrastructure, or luxury/membership consumer apps (strong plus).
