About the Role

As a Charge RN, you will oversee a department of frontline nurses, leveraging your experience in acute care, LTC, or nursing homes. You will advocate for and support nurses in achieving their full potential and departmental goals. This role requires accountability, confidence, excellent communication skills, and the ability to conduct difficult conversations to manage unit performance.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct supervision of personnel practicing on Nursing Units.
• Make patient care assignments and evaluate them.
• Facilitate patient throughput.
• Directly observe staff performance on assigned shifts.
• Proactively match existing resources to provide patient care that supports staff and maintains a therapeutic environment.
• Monitor productivity and assure staffing and resources align with patient care needs.
• Communicate personnel-related concerns to the Unit Manager.
• Use a logical, systematic approach to problems and problem-solving.
• Facilitate Patient Experience best practices on the unit, such as hourly rounding.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing upon hire.
• Registered Nurse (RN) license in Kentucky upon hire.
• Basic Life Support (CPR) certification upon hire.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 6 months.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification within 6 months.
• For ADN prepared RNs hired after 04/01/2026, obtain a BSN degree within five years of start date.
• For ADN prepared RNs hired after 04/01/2026, enroll in a BSN program within two years of start date.
