About the Role
This role focuses on managing joinery product lines within West Coast Marine operations.
Responsibilities
- Manage and grow joinery product line with project engineers and estimators.
- Oversee recruitment and training of field and operations team members.
- Actively participate in the branch's safety culture.
- Follow all corporate safety program guidelines.
- Accountable for Quality Control measures in the QA/QC program for assigned projects.
- Prepare RFIs, submittals, and shop drawings.
- Navigate and coordinate activities to maximize productivity and efficiency.
- Verify estimates, order materials, and price change orders.
- Create and implement job schedules, coordinate with field supervisors and foremen, and communicate issues to optimize trade work sequence.
- Perform labor control on assigned projects, including setup and maintenance, to maximize profits.
- Assist in vendor selection and coordinate materials and equipment.
- Assist in subcontractor buyout, issue contracts, and proactively manage subcontractor work, including billings and change orders.
- Complete and be accountable for job cost control through monthly Financial Analysis Worksheets (FAWs) on assigned projects.
- Support the branch through positive customer relations and active participation in the Customer Alignment Plan.
Requirements
- Minimum five years of shipbuilding and joinery project management work experience.
- Strong understanding of joinery systems on Commercial, MSC, and US Navy vessels.
- Shipbuilding experience in New Construction and/or Repair/Modernization.
- Experience with estimating, project management, and managing joinery scopes.
- Ability to diagnose and process key information.
- Ability to recognize critical areas impacting profitability.
- Ability to navigate projects away from risks and liabilities for successful outcomes.
- Clear understanding of how to read and understand specifications and drawings.
- Experience working with union representatives (preferred).
- Ability to travel and relocate for projects (preferred).
