About the Role

Ofcom is seeking an experienced Programme Manager to lead its AI Enablement Programme, supporting the delivery of AI workstreams and the safe, ethical, and effective adoption of AI tools like Microsoft Copilot. This role is crucial for shaping Ofcom's AI agenda and ensuring strong governance and productivity metrics.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the AI Enablement Programme within the Transformation Portfolio, establishing and delivering a portfolio of projects aligned to AI ambitions.
  • Apply best-practice programme and project management, developing end-to-end plans across workstreams.
  • Manage governance forums (including the AI Steering Group), risks, issues, and dependencies.
  • Provide structured reporting and oversight across DDAI and Transformation teams, ensuring effective use of internal resources.
  • Shape and deliver an AI strategy aligned to Data and IT strategies.
  • Define and lead the roadmap for secure, ethical adoption of AI tools (including Microsoft Copilot).
  • Provide expert advice and structured support to teams, maintaining a pragmatic focus on benefits realisation and continuous improvement.
  • Establish and embed governance frameworks, policies, standards, and guidance for AI.
  • Work closely with Legal, Information Security, and Data Protection teams to ensure robust oversight and data protection across all initiatives.
  • Lead the rollout and adoption of Microsoft Copilot and related tools (e.g., Copilot Studio).
  • Support the evaluation and adoption of additional AI tools, partnering with Digital, Data, and Technology teams on governance and approvals.
  • Build organisational AI capability, working with L&D to develop AI literacy and training.
  • Engage internal and external partners as required.
  • Represent Ofcom in cross-regulatory forums.
  • Personally produce project documentation aligned to standard documentation.
  • Provide structure to teams, including structuring working groups, shaping agendas, and supporting their efficient operation.

Requirements

  • Significant experience leading AI or digital transformation initiatives.
  • Demonstrable understanding of AI technologies (including Microsoft Copilot).
  • Experience developing strategy, governance frameworks, and applying responsible AI principles.
  • Proven project management expertise.
  • Ability to shape projects and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver.
  • Experience of managing cross-function teams.
  • Experience of stakeholder management.
  • Adaptable to change and promotes innovation.
