About the Role
Join Equinix's operations team as a Critical Facilities Engineer Level IV, a role focused on maintaining and evolving critical infrastructure that powers the digital world. This position offers a leading opportunity to guide and develop team members, acting as a coach and technical reference point.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and ensure the technical operation of all key infrastructure within Equinix data centres.
- Ensure preventive and corrective maintenance is carried out in a timely and correct manner.
- Work closely with subcontractors.
- Ensure the seamless operation of facility infrastructure through diligent maintenance practices.
- Conduct regular site inspections and monitor building and data centre alarms.
- Oversee and execute preventative maintenance on site infrastructure, directly or through vendor management.
- Manage the permit to work system.
- Perform and manage repairs and corrective maintenance on critical equipment.
- Prepare and execute planned maintenance activities.
- Maintain comprehensive site logs and data records, including MOPs and scripts.
- Assist senior staff in responding to on-site incidents.
- Take initiative in handling basic incidents.
- Complete basic work requests and circuit installations.
- Participate actively in ongoing infrastructure projects.
- Execute works projects to improve site functionality.
Requirements
- ONC/BTEC/NVQ or equivalent qualification in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering.
- Previous experience in a data centre environment or a closely transitional industry.
- In-depth understanding of critical infrastructure, including UPS, generators, BMS, chillers, and life safety systems.
- LV certificated previously.
- HV switching experience preferred.
