About the Role

Dr. Richard Izquierdo Health & Science Charter School seeks certified or pathway-to-certified ELA teachers to instruct high school students. ELA teachers collaborate with department colleagues and across content areas, under the Principal's supervision.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate subject matter expertise and relevant skills.
• Make topics and activities meaningful and relevant for students.
• Integrate technology resources compatible with student needs.
• Develop clear, logical, and sequential unit and lesson plans aligned to standards and Regents exams.
• Collaborate with specialists to differentiate instruction for all students.
• Connect current content and skills with past and future learning.
• Utilize various instructional strategies (modeling, cooperative learning, collaboration, reading/writing in content areas) to differentiate learning.
• Employ questioning strategies to engage students and promote learning.
• Monitor student understanding and adjust teaching as needed.
• Maximize student learning through active and successful participation opportunities.
• Explain content and demonstrate skills in diverse ways to meet student needs.
• Hold each student individually accountable for learning.
• Use assessment results to monitor and modify instruction.
• Utilize teacher-made and standardized tests to measure student performance.
• Employ oral, non-verbal, and written student assessment methods.
• Organize, maintain, and use student progress records for instructional decisions.
• Continuously monitor student progress and provide meaningful feedback.
• Demonstrate competence in grading, ranking, and scoring practices for student achievement.

Requirements

• Demonstrated success in non-traditional and/or urban school settings.

• Ability to provide appropriate and effective learning experiences for diverse achievement levels.
• Good judgment and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to respond appropriately to evaluation and changes in the work setting.
• Knowledge or ability to use Student Information Systems (SIS) or online learning platforms (e.g., PowerSchool, Google Classroom).
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Experience with educational technology.

Salary/Compensations

• $75,000 - $105,000 annually (Based on Experience)
