About the Role
This entry-level position is for a Graduate Electrical Engineer with 0-2 years of experience to join the MEP Engineering team in Austin, TX. The role involves designing electrical systems for construction documents across various markets, including multifamily, commercial, high-rise, hospitality, and EV Fleet. The Graduate Electrical Engineer reports to the electrical team leader.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with engineers and designers to produce quality engineering construction documents in Revit from architectural plans and base files.
- Design electrical systems, including equipment sizing, energy lighting calculations, and circuit diagrams for various project types (high-rise, multifamily, commercial, technology), under limited supervision.
- Perform electrical calculations including load analysis, lighting energy use, voltage drop, and fault analysis.
- Review submittals and preliminary requests for information.
- Conduct preliminary site investigations and construction progress site visits.
- Maintain relationships with manufacturers and technical representatives for electrical equipment specifications and design support.
- Participate in internal production meetings with Engineers and Project Managers, and external design meetings with clients or city officials.
- Contribute to the development of automation and visualization strategies.
- Report project progress to Project Engineers, Team Leaders, and Project Managers.
- Attend industry events and engage in community involvement to build relationships and create content.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering.
- Obtain Engineer in Training (EIT) license within the first year in the role.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in new building mechanical engineering construction.
- Experience with Revit.
- Prior experience or knowledge of coding and/or machine learning technologies.
- Currently authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis.
