About the Role

This role drives business development, visibility initiatives, and priorities for Gibson Dunn’s Class Actions, Commercial Litigation, and related practices, including Environmental Law & Mass Torts and Product Liability. The manager guides and executes the business plan, including target lists, client relationships, and speaking opportunities. This position leads pitches and RFPs, ensuring strategic approaches to secure work, and collaborates on cross-practice initiatives and strategic projects. The role reports to the Sr. Manager of Business Development.

Responsibilities

  • Lead overall business development and marketing efforts for select litigation practices, supporting individual partner business objectives.
  • Lead and oversee preparation of pitches, RFPs, and client-facing materials, including strategy sessions, internal debriefs, and outcome tracking.
  • Spearhead drafting and maintaining practice-specific marketing materials and collateral, including relevant matter collection.
  • Support key client efforts and collaborate with colleagues to identify, develop, and grow high-value clients.
  • Collaborate with functional managers on visibility, speaking opportunities, communications, recognition, directory participation, and digital marketing initiatives.
  • Plan and oversee seminars, events, and other targeted marketing activities.
  • Act as a lead on additional related projects within the Department or Firm as assigned.
  • Manage a direct report and contribute to the development and advancement of early tenure marketing team members.
  • Stay current on market intelligence to support individual pitch efforts and practice area or region strategic projects.

  • Understanding of law firm needs and expectations, with ability to work in an environment with shifting priorities and multiple constituents.

  • Exceptional proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
