About the Role

At Perk, we know that we feel most fulfilled when we can own the problem and the solution. This means taking responsibility for the entire lifecycle of a feature, from understanding customer pains to deployment and measuring impact. You will see how your technical decisions move the needle for our customers daily. We prioritize autonomy and pragmatism, giving you the space to solve complex problems without unnecessary friction. Engineering excellence here is measured by the reliability and simplicity of the systems you build to power a global platform.

Responsibilities

  • Taking responsibility for the entire lifecycle of a feature, from understanding customer pains to deployment and measuring impact.
  • Refining the 'what to build' and 'why'.
  • Focusing on the problem itself, beyond the technical solution.
  • Contributing to squad quarterly goals and long-term vision.
  • Architecting for today and tomorrow, writing design documents for platform changes.
  • Becoming a guardian of team's technical quality, spotting areas of investment, and managing technical debt.
  • Communicating complex ideas across multiple teams and driving alignment.
  • Coordinating cross-squad initiatives and contributing to engineering guilds.
  • Pairing with architects on solution discovery.
  • Mentoring and coaching less experienced colleagues.
  • Providing thoughtful feedback during reviews.
  • Modelling great engineering practices.
  • Helping Engineering Managers understand team's technical growth areas.
  • Lifting the overall engineering standard through guild meetings, design doc reviews, and pairing sessions.
  • Translating complex business goals into technical roadmaps.
  • De-risking ambiguous projects through spikes and prototyping.
  • Architecting scalable, evolvable systems and data models.
  • Defining and upholding engineering excellence, including CI/CD, testing, and coding standards.
  • Establishing frontend architecture patterns.
  • Engineering sophisticated backend solutions.
  • Leading observability and SRE practices, defining SLOs, managing incident responses, and conducting blameless post-mortems.
  • Overseeing operational security, including secrets hygiene and dependency risk management.
  • Leveling up the engineering organization through active mentorship and leading design reviews.
  • Influencing the product roadmap with technical data.
  • Coordinating multi-team deliverables and aligning stakeholders.
  • Leveraging AI tools in coding interviews and daily workflows.

Requirements

  • Experience with AI-augmented workflows, including leveraging agentic workflows, developing custom agentic skills, and utilizing AI-powered code reviews.
  • Ability to own the problem and the solution.
  • Ability to see how technical decisions move the needle for customers.
  • Prioritize autonomy and pragmatism.
  • Solve complex problems without unnecessary friction.
  • Build reliable and simple systems.
  • Contribute to mission-driven teams tackling core platform reliability, self-serve post-booking, booking error recovery, and airline inventory scaling.
  • Work in cross-functional teams with product, design, and operations.
  • Help figure out how to achieve company goals.
  • Work in a cross-functional squad with real ownership and a say in what gets built.
  • Decide how to contribute to company goals.
  • Trust to deliver impact.
  • Use AI tools in coding interviews.
  • Understand your code and own what you produce.
  • Refine the 'what to build' and 'why'.
  • Go beyond the technical solution and focus on the problem itself.
  • Contribute to squad quarterly goals and long-term vision.
  • Architect for today and tomorrow.
  • Write design documents for platform changes.
  • Become a guardian of team's technical quality.

  • Contribute to engineering guilds.
  • Pair with architects on solution discovery.
  • Operate comfortably beyond your immediate team.
  • Support less experienced colleagues through direct mentorship, thoughtful feedback, and by modelling great engineering.
  • Help Engineering Managers understand where the team needs to grow technically.
  • Use spaces like guild meetings, design doc reviews, and pairing sessions to lift the overall standard.
  • Translate complex business goals into technical roadmaps.
  • De-risk ambiguous projects through spikes and prototyping.
  • Architect scalable, evolvable systems and data models that account for performance, failure isolation, and long-term maintenance.
  • Define and uphold engineering excellence, including CI/CD optimizations, testing strategies, and coding standards across the stack.
  • Establish frontend architecture patterns, including state management, performance budgets, and comprehensive testing (e.g., E2E/Cypress).
  • Engineer sophisticated backend solutions involving API versioning, caching strategies, and complex data migration plans.
  • Lead observability and SRE practices; define SLOs, manage incident responses, and conduct blameless post-mortems.
  • Oversee operational security, including secrets hygiene and dependency risk management, to ensure a hardened production environment.

  • We can help with relocation from anywhere in the world.
  • English is the official language at the office.
