About the Role
Advises students, parents, and high school guidance counselors on career and program choices, curriculum, admissions, enrollment, financial aid, and housing options.
Responsibilities
- Provide educational advising on curriculum, tutorial services, financial aid, and social activities.
- Assist with admission and registration documents.
- Provide assessment preparation resources and interpret scores for course placement.
- Collaborate with faculty to support student success.
- Interpret and apply institutional, state, and federal policies to advising procedures.
- Plan and implement supportive activities for academic, career, financial aid, and transfer.
- Identify career and educational options to maximize student achievement and retention.
- Implement retention activities including cultural enrichment, workshops, and individual sessions on various success topics.
- Track and report student academic progress.
- Identify at-risk students and implement academic recovery and retention plans.
- Ensure data integrity and accuracy of student records.
- Maintain student information confidentiality (FERPA).
- Refer students to campus and community resources.
- Supervise work study students.
- Participate in college enrollment activities, including community representation, new student orientation, and registration.
- Perform other assigned duties to ensure department functioning and organizational reputation.
Requirements
- Minimum three years of related work experience.
- Bachelor’s degree plus two years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse and underserved students.

- Complete employment references and a driver’s license background check.
- Conform to Minnesota State’s Vehicle use criteria and consent to Motor Vehicle Records check.
- Legally authorized to work in the US.
