About the Role

Partner with People Managers to navigate employee relations, build capability, strengthen engagement, and create thriving environments. Provide exceptional employment experiences across the employee lifecycle, shaping a high-performing, inclusive, and values-led workplace. This role is a full-time, fixed-term parental leave cover for up to 12 months.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to and embed people and performance strategies aligned to Starlight’s priorities.
  • Ensure people practices enable a strong, inclusive, and values-driven culture.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to leaders, providing coaching and guidance on employee relations, performance, engagement, and workforce matters.
  • Lead and support employee relations matters in partnership with the Head of People & Performance.
  • Maintain a safe, respectful, confidential, and legally compliant approach to employee relations.
  • Collaborate with Talent Acquisition, Learning & Wellbeing, and People Managers to support talent strategies, leadership capability, team development, and succession planning.
  • Facilitate leadership connection and capability through initiatives like the People Managers Forum.
  • Provide market insights and salary benchmarking to inform reward decisions.
  • Use people data and insights to drive continuous improvement in systems, processes, and employee experience.
  • Support strong governance across workplace policy, WHS, safeguarding, and compliance.

Requirements

  • Solid experience within a HR Generalist role with a commitment to owning outcomes and delivering exceptional employment experiences.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Australian employment legislation and Fair Work principles.
  • Ability to deal effectively with employment relations matters.
  • High emotional intelligence, professionalism, and sound judgement.
  • Strong facilitation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to develop positive relationships and to influence, coach, and support.
  • A solution-focused, analytical mindset with the ability to translate data into meaningful insights.
  • Successful applicants will undertake a Working with Children Check and a National Police Check.
