About the Role
NABA London is seeking a proactive and highly organized Library Specialist to ensure optimal library services, manage resource development, and provide operational support. This role involves managing library spaces, resource availability, information consultancy, and purchasing materials in agreement with educational leads.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the organization and management of library services and areas for faculty and student access to materials and online resources.
- Guarantee accessibility of library services and resources through clear signage, website updates, service guides, and notifications.
- Manage consultation and loan of library resources for students and staff.
- Train and support users on the library catalogue and online resources.
- Assist students with research and material consultation.
- Manage the collection, cataloging, and disposal of library materials (books, magazines, DVDs, dissertations).
- Purchase library materials requested by Course Leaders and faculty within budget.
- Update subscriptions to specialized periodicals and online resources.
- Manage and monitor purchase orders for library materials.
- Prepare reports for quality audits and regulatory requirements regarding the library.
- Oversee data collection on library resource and service usage for analysis and future decision-making.
- Perform back-office and student services activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a Humanities field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in academic or specialized libraries.
- Excellent organizational and cataloging skills.
- Experience managing library databases, cataloging systems, and circulation processes.
- Familiarity with acquisition and subscription renewal processes.
- Experience with digital library tools and online resource platforms.
- Knowledge and interest in at least one NABA area of study (Fashion, Design, Visual Arts etc.).
- Strong user service orientation.
- Ability to support students and faculty in research and material access.
- Ability to maintain and improve digital and physical collections.
- Competence in preparing internal library materials (signage, notices, service guides).
- Proficiency in library management systems.
- Familiarity with online databases, e-journals, and digital libraries.
- Good command of Microsoft Office.
- Attention to detail and precision in data entry and cataloging.
- Ability to collaborate with faculty and staff for academic resource planning.
- Willingness to stay up-to-date with trends in library technology and user engagement.
- Proactive approach to improving library services accessibility, usability, and visibility.
- Fluent English (C1/C2 level) written and spoken.
