About the Role

The Human System Integration team is developing the human machine interface (HMI) to ensure drivers can safely use advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). The goal is to promote mutual understanding between the car and humans through HMI, delivering safe and reliable mobility. HMI development significantly contributes to a car's product appeal.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the team in defining requirements, designing functionality including communication specification between electronic control units for the HMI control application, software implementation and validation.
  • Conduct HMI evaluations using a vehicle and a driving simulator, and work with team members and related applications teams to quickly respond to specification changes.
  • Conduct reviews and provide advice to ensure software quality in mass-production development.
  • Negotiate with Toyota Motor Corporation and the other partners to establish development items, schedules, and budget.

Requirements

  • 3+ years in software engineering for consumer-focused applications.
  • Experience as tech lead, helping other programmers with software implementation projects.
  • Experience working directly with a variety of teams both internal and external to understand and share the requirements, specifications and the technical details.
  • Ability and experience communicating in Japanese, including written and oral, in a working environment.

  • HMI development for mass production vehicles
  • Development of control software for cockpit ECUs of Meter, HUD, or multimedia systems
  • Production-level programming experience in C
  • Embedded or ECU software development
  • Software architecture design

  • Model-based development (MBD) using MATLAB, Simulink, or similar technologies
  • Mobile/web/desktop application development using Python, Flutter, Unity, Blender, or similar
  • Functional safety (ISO 26262)

  • Driving simulator development
  • UX planning
  • Interactive design
