About the Role
Reporting to the Vice President, Global Medical Affairs Strategy and Field, the MSL Team Lead develops the vision, strategy, tactical plans, and resource/budget plans for the regional MSL team. This role involves ongoing development and refinement of the team in collaboration with the VP and regional MSL Lead counterpart. The MSL Lead conducts scientific discourse with subject matter experts and key thought leaders in neurology/neuromuscular disease and/or rare diseases, and directs KOL-driven activities. The successful leader combines scientific knowledge with a focus on scientific rigor and patient compassion, contributing to MSL training, process, policy, and thought leader strategy development.
Responsibilities
- Oversee Regional MSL team
- Develop and coach on field medical tactics and initiatives based on GMA strategy
- Ensure scientific excellence
- Foster relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs)
- Participate in cross-functional teams to understand and communicate data gaps
- Assist in data generation and communication strategies
- Contribute to the development of Medical Strategy Plans
- Lead and execute autonomously with confidence
- Set clear goals, delegate appropriately, and consistently deliver
- Manage all aspects of people management within the MSL team region
- Provide strategic guidance and build alignment around goals and objectives
- Train, motivate, and influence others regularly
- Identify opportunities and actively engage in direct reports’ career development plans
- Ensure field medical team is equipped with appropriate medical scientific information and tools for scientific exchange
- Demonstrate a customer-oriented mindset and anticipate field needs
- Communicate relevant field insights to internal stakeholders and enable pull-through of actions
- Attend and support scientific/professional meetings/conferences consistent with therapeutic responsibility
- Represent the company on presentations and panels as appropriate
- Develop and implement initiatives to expand and maximize functional area effectiveness
- Provide proactive status reports visualizing KPIs and demonstrating team outcome quality
- Lead by example, driving a culture of teamwork and partnering across the company
- Maintain core understanding and track record of complying with industry and regulatory compliance guidelines
- Apply compliance knowledge to team activities
- Ensure self and team completion of administrative tasks, including system use (Veeva, Concur), KOL interaction tracking, conference coverage, and expense reports
Requirements
- 12-15+ years of professional experience
- Minimum of 5-7 years field medical experience
- Proven ability to lead and execute autonomously with confidence
- Results-oriented
- Advanced knowledge of Sarepta products, competitive landscape, market, and healthcare space
- Continuous learning and knowledge of therapeutic area related scientific literature
- Highly decisive and action-oriented
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deal effectively with deadlines
