About the Role
Become an Engineer at the NRMA and design the infrastructure that will define how millions travel for decades to come. We’re looking for an experienced Energy Solutions Engineer to join NRMA Energy, supporting the design and delivery of EV charging infrastructure across Australia.
Responsibilities
- Develop site concepts for EV charging sites across Australia to assist with the acquisition of sites.
- Develop and review detailed designs for grid connections, switchboards, EV chargers and general site layout.
- Provide engineering support across land acquisition, infrastructure procurement, site design, delivery and commissioning.
- Provide desktop evaluations of candidate sites and undertake field inspections in collaboration with the Acquisition team.
- Prepare concept and detailed engineering designs, drawings and calculations using AutoCAD.
- Manage DNSP enquiries, applications and approvals for proposed installations.
- Review design drawings and provide technical guidance to achieve optimal outcomes.
- Liaise with contractors to define technical requirements for electrical distribution equipment and EV charging stations.
- Support proof‑of‑concept activities and new energy designs.
- Assist with compliance of network and electrical system designs with legislation, codes of practice and standards.
- Support commissioning, operational and maintenance activities for EV assets.
- Maintain engineering documentation, datasheets and technical standards.
- Participate in tender processes, including RFI/RFP preparation and evaluation.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and mentor junior engineers.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechatronic, or similar)
- Knowledge of current Australian regulations, electrical installation rules, and standards
- 5+ years’ engineering experience across EV charging, or relevant industry
- Experience managing DNSP connection enquiries, applications and approvals
- Strong AutoCAD skills, with experience producing 2D engineering drawings and design plans
- A safety mindset and commitment to compliant engineering outcomes
- Ability to manage concurrent projects and meet challenging deadlines
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across internal teams, contractors and suppliers
- A collaborative approach, with a passion for continuous improvement and process efficiency
- Chartered Professional Engineer, RPEQ or VIC PE accreditation is highly regarded
- Successful applicants will be required to complete pre-employment checks.
