About the Role
Geotab is seeking a Network Engineer to design, develop, and maintain scalable, highly available network architectures while incorporating AI into network operations to enhance automation and optimize performance monitoring. The projects will vary in scope, complexity, and affected business area. If you love technology, and are keen to join an industry leader — we would love to hear from you!
Responsibilities
- Maintaining Geotab's internal and cloud infrastructure networks.
- Configuring network devices.
- Setting up firewalls/switches.
- Leveraging AI-driven tools for compliance, security, and optimization.
- Working closely with Development Operations, management, cross-functional teams, customers, and external suppliers.
- Designing, configuring, installing, and maintaining internal servers, cloud infrastructure, and core network devices (including firewalls, Cisco/Dell Layer 2/3 switches, Wi-Fi APs, VPNs, and multi-WAN/VLAN environments) to ensure full redundancy and disaster recovery.
- Implementing AI-powered observability, predictive analytics, and automated tools to track compliance, build network optimization dashboards, monitor utilization trends, and eliminate repetitive tasks through intelligent scripting.
- Incorporating robust security controls, AI-driven anomaly detection, and threat analysis into overall system implementations while establishing standard processes and network environment governance.
- Troubleshooting complex network infrastructure issues across WAN, LAN, VOIP, DMZ, and cloud environments, cooperating closely with Development Operations and providing reliable on-call IT support.
- Acting as a subject matter expert to mentor and guide team members, evaluate design risks, set project implementation frameworks, and provide strategic technical direction or roadmap recommendations to management.
Requirements
- 3-5 years of experience in Network Engineering or within the IT field, ideally working within a technical/engineering organization or high-technology industry.
- Hands-on experience with enterprise network configuration, routing/switching (Cisco/Dell), Firewalls, Wi-Fi management, Radius infrastructure, and deploying QoS in LAN/WLAN environments.
- Practical experience setting up, troubleshooting, and automating cloud-based networks (Google Cloud, AWS, or Azure), including IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, and managing DNS, DNSSEC, and SNMP.
- Strong scripting skills (Linux bash, PowerShell) using DevOps tools for intelligent automation, network diagnostics, and analytics.
- Advanced familiarity with AI/ML platforms (Vertex AI, BigQuery ML), AIOps tools for incident detection/root cause analysis, generative AI tools (Claude, Copilot) for scripting/documentation, and AI-based security monitoring.
- High accuracy, meticulous attention to detail, strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks, and an entrepreneurial mindset comfortable collaborating across all levels of a flat organization.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills combined with a team-player attitude to make well-judged decisions and efficiently manage resource optimization.
- Proof of eligibility to work.
- Ability to pass a background check.
