About the Role
The Senior Procurement Officer is responsible for overseeing and managing the procurement process, ensuring the timely acquisition of goods and services at the best possible value. They develop and implement procurement strategies, negotiate contracts with suppliers, and monitor supplier performance to optimize costs and quality. Additionally, Senior Procurement Officers play a key role in maintaining compliance with procurement policies and regulations while contributing to the organization's overall efficiency and profitability.
Responsibilities
- Utilize economies of scale and best practices to win local battles.
- Define and communicate the supply strategy and its implications to align stakeholders.
- Drive continuous improvement, work simplification, and elimination of non-value-added work.
- Make timely decisions, balancing analysis with decisiveness.
- Use competitive insights to shape strategies that counter competitive threats.
- Remove organizational barriers to delivering exceptional customer service.
- Represent the organization honestly, ethically, and professionally.
- Manage financial and budgetary responsibilities.
- Identify metrics, tools, and processes to optimize sourcing, supplier activities, and efficiencies.
- Lead the delivery of savings and operating cash flow programs in assigned categories.
- Continuously drive operational excellence in strategic sourcing.
- Support the implementation of HSE initiatives, participate in safety awareness activities, and contribute to incident reporting and resolution.
Requirements
- Thorough understanding of procurement principles, processes, and regulations.
- Strong negotiation skills to secure favorable terms and pricing agreements.
- Excellent analytical abilities to assess supplier proposals, evaluate contract terms, and make informed decisions.
- Proficiency in procurement software and systems.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with stakeholders and suppliers.
- ERP knowledge, preferably SAP functional skills.
- Minimum 5 years of working experience.
- 3 years of relevant working experience.
- 2 years of GCC experience is a plus.
