About the Role
This role involves preparing samples for analytical and microbiological testing of nutraceutical products, supplements ingredients, and environmental samples. Responsibilities include applying approved microbiological techniques and methodologies in analytical testing.
Responsibilities
- Assist in microbial challenge testing for new product preservation.
- Perform bioburden panel, water, and environmental testing (e.g., air plates, swabs, conductivity).
- Apply aseptic techniques in daily work.
- Inventory and report expendable supplies/materials for testing.
- Provide routine preventive maintenance, including daily cleaning, sanitizing, and trash disposal.
- Perform quality control monitoring (e.g., incubator temperatures, control organism inoculation, media controls).
- Maintain laboratory conditions, including equipment and supplies.
- Perform all activities in a neat, safe, hygienic, and efficient manner.
- Prepare media for microbial quality and preservative adequacy testing.
- Document media preparation and control information in logbooks.
- Maintain department notebooks and computer logs.
- Organize product discard destruction and assist with special projects.
- Share information openly and timely with Supervisor.
- Perform other assigned duties.
Requirements
- BS degree in microbiology or a related field with 2-3 years of lab experience.
- Minimum of 1 year of Quality Assurance or Microbiological testing experience in cosmetic, nutritional, or pharmaceutical industries.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to adapt to process improvements.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand and sit for long periods.
- Availability to rotate one weekend day.
