About the Role
Assure the success of all banquet events, maintain profitable operations, and deliver high-quality products and service. Promote business, reduce employee turnover, manage revenue and payroll budgets, and meet budgeted productivity while maintaining high quality.
Responsibilities
- Be attentive, friendly, helpful, and courteous to guests, managers, and fellow employees.
- Oversee daily banquet operations.
- Supervise banquet personnel.
- Respond to guest complaints promptly.
- Collaborate with F&B managers and communicate relevant issues.
- Inform supervisor of all problems or matters requiring attention.
- Coordinate and monitor Loss Prevention in banquet operations.
- Prepare and submit required reports promptly.
- Ensure preparation of Wage Progress, payroll, revenue, employee schedules, and quarterly action plans.
- Monitor banquet service quality.
- Ensure compliance with local liquor laws, health, and sanitation regulations.
- Ensure compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in all outlets.
- Ensure compliance with requisition procedures.
- Conduct staff performance reviews per Highgate Hotel standards.
- Prepare payroll and tip distribution.
- Conduct departmental and hotel training (e.g., CARE, One to One).
- Coordinate banquet food and beverage requirements with relevant departments.
- Inform kitchen of accurate counts for plating.
- Review menu and service with catering managers and banquet chef.
- Maintain updated banquet function details and communicate to supervisors.
- Conduct ongoing training for captains and hourly employees to maintain service standards.
- Interact with guests and assist with requests.
- Supervise banquet check tabulation and ensure guest signatures.
- Requisition liquor for banquet bars.
- Ensure safety, sanitation, and cleanliness of service areas.
- Oversee banquet set-up assignments.
- Regularly inspect banquet areas for cleanliness and maintenance.
- Conduct menu classes and line-ups for all functions.
- Supervise banquet management and captains, and observe hourly service personnel performance.
- Control and maintain service equipment; write service requests as needed.
- Ensure overall guest satisfaction.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of progressive experience in a hotel or related field.
- High school diploma.
- Previous supervisory responsibility preferred.
- Strong knowledge of service standards and types (e.g., French, Russian).
- Knowledge of food and beverage preparation techniques, health department rules, and liquor laws.
- Ability to work long hours when required.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull objects up to 50 pounds occasionally, or 20 pounds frequently/constantly.
- Effective verbal and written communication with employees and guests.
- Effective listening, understanding, and clarifying employee and guest concerns.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines.
- Approach guests and employees in an attentive, friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner.
- Attend all required hotel meetings and trainings.
- Participate in Manager On Duty (M.O.D.) coverage as required.
- Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Highgate Hotel Standards.
- Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, including nametags.
- Comply with Highgate Hotel Standards and regulations for safe and efficient operations.
- Maximize productivity, identify problem areas, and assist in implementing solutions.
- Effective problem-solving, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and resolving issues.
- Ability to understand and evaluate complex information and data from various sources.
