About the Role
You will lead and grow a team of world-class AI researchers to drive an applied research agenda focused on multiphysics reasoning, spatial reasoning, complex tool use, and long-horizon agentic execution. This role sits at the intersection of advanced research and ambitious product application, requiring a high-agency leader to push the boundaries of current AI capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the AI research agenda in collaboration with the CEO
- Recruit, retain, and lead a team of world-class AI research talent
- Execute research initiatives as an individual contributor
- Represent the company at conferences and within the broader AI research ecosystem
- Manage model training compute resources
- Establish an applied AI research capability for the P-1 Defense subsidiary
Requirements
- Accomplished AI researcher with a track record of projects and publications
- Experience with large multi-modal models, world models, or reinforcement learning
- Proven leadership and management experience in startup, lab, corporate, or academic settings
- Demonstrated interest in AI for the physical world
- Eligible for a security clearance
- Ability to work in-person at the San Mateo office
