About the Role

Fanshawe College is seeking experienced law enforcement professionals to join our team as part-time Professors in the School of Public Safety. Reporting to the Program Manager, part-time Professors are responsible for providing academic leadership and developing an effective learning environment for students. In this role, you will bring your real-world experience into the classroom, delivering engaging, practical learning experiences and supporting student success in a dynamic post-secondary environment.

Responsibilities

Providing academic leadership
Developing an effective learning environment for students
Delivering engaging, practical learning experiences
Supporting student success
Teaching across the Protection, Security and Investigation (PSI) program
Teaching across the Police Foundations (PFT) program

Requirements

Post-secondary education in a relevant field of study
Minimum of 5 years of experience working for the Canada Border Services Agency
Minimum of 5 years of recent (within the last two years) experience in the field of law enforcement, such as policing, corrections, customs, municipal by-law enforcement, MTO enforcement, and/or security practices
Successful candidates will be required to perform work within Ontario
Must be available to work on campus, as required
Availability for in-person on campus delivery is required for most courses
Transcripts are mandatory as a condition of employment

Skills

Teaching experience with hybrid and/or online delivery preferred
Related industry work experience
Previous college teaching experience
Knowledge of curriculum design
Knowledge of student evaluations
Ability to demonstrate knowledge of the challenges faced by diverse student groups
