About the Role
As a Senior Software Developer on the New Ventures team, you will implement solutions and write code for consumer-facing applications and their supporting infrastructure. This role operates within a startup environment inside a global company, focusing on innovation and rapid scaling of new brands.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deploy software solutions for HelloFresh markets and brands.
- Take ownership of the architecture, design, development, deployment, and operations of developed solutions.
- Utilize DevOps practices, pair programming, and other cutting-edge methodologies.
- Dedicate time to learning and developing technical skills.
- Contribute to ambitious goals and showcase technical expertise.
Requirements
- Active, solution-oriented member of autonomous, cross-functional agile teams.
- Collaborate with Product Owners, Frontend and Backend Engineers, Designers, and Business Intelligence teams.
- Develop an in-depth understanding of HelloFresh’s core products and architecture.
- Act as an ambassador for state-of-the-art software solutions and industry best practices.
- Offer support and mentorship to colleagues.
- 4+ years of working experience in an agile software development team.
- 2+ years of experience working with React JS (preferred) or similar Javascript frameworks (React Native, Angular, VueJS).
- Hands-on experience in continuous delivery deploying to customer-facing applications.
- Experience writing unit/integration/function test cases and with formalized testing methodologies (TDD, BDD).
- Experience with server-side technologies like Next.js, Nest.js, Nuxt.js, or Remix.
- Solid understanding of backend architecture with the ability to assist in setting up new API endpoints and designing service contracts.
- Experience with monitoring and observability tools (Honeycomb, Sentry, Datadog, New Relic).
- Experience with experimentation (AB, multivariate).
- Basic familiarity building and maintaining storefronts within the Shopify ecosystem.
- Proven experience delivering end-to-end (e2e) features, taking ownership from implementation through deployment and monitoring.
- Proficiency in GraphQL for efficient data fetching.
- Working knowledge of SQL for data exploration and analytics.
- Solid hands-on experience working with AI coding agents (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot) beyond casual experimentation.
- Ability to use AI agents as thought partners for onboarding and navigating codebases.
- Understanding of how context provided to AI tools shapes output quality.
- Awareness of how agentic outputs can fail and habits around verifying, testing, and setting boundaries on AI-generated work.
