About the Role
The Porter I, On-Call covers open AM and PM shifts, primarily collecting and washing cooking equipment, busing, and washing dishes. Secondary functions include completing assigned tasks from the kitchen’s master cleaning list.
Responsibilities
- Set up, break down, and clean the dish machine
- Set up three-compartment sinks with soapy, clean, and sanitizer water
- Perform temperature and sanitizer level checks on machines and sinks
- Remove trash, cardboard, compost, and recycled material according to kitchen procedures
- Prepare, clean, sanitize, and replace assigned equipment according to kitchen procedures
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of dish room, pot racks, and assigned areas
- Wash kitchen floor mats
- Wash, dry, and fold kitchen towels for storage
- Follow the master cleaning list and complete assigned side jobs
- Set up and clean the lunchroom, including walls, salad bar, and serving equipment
- Break down and clean the lunchroom after service
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors or managers
Requirements
- Successful experience in a commercial or industrial kitchen team setting
- Training, understanding, and experience with HACCP procedures
- Ability to speak, read, and write in English for kitchen communication
