About the Role
Old Republic Title is seeking an Associate Claims Counsel to evaluate, manage, and resolve title insurance claims nationwide. This is an excellent opportunity for entry-level attorneys, including recent law school graduates who have passed the Bar, to build their legal career in a stable, business-oriented environment. The role offers practical application of legal training and hands-on experience managing complex matters.
Responsibilities
- Process and manage title claims from states on a national level.
- Investigate and determine claim coverage.
- Communicate with insured parties regarding coverage and status.
- Ensure statutory compliance.
- Resolve title defects.
- Direct defenses with outside counsel.
- Negotiate settlements to mitigate company losses.
- Determine agent liability.
- Pursue and preserve recovery.
- Review and track claim-related expenditures.
- Negotiate claim settlements and obtain necessary approvals.
- Manage customer issues from initial contact to resolution or transition.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, financial controls, and federal, state, and local laws.
Requirements
- Licensed to practice law.
- If not licensed by the state bar at the employee's office location, must be permitted to act as corporate counsel in that state.
- Occasional travel is expected for company events or Claims work.
Skills
- Knowledge of title insurance and real estate closing transactions is preferred.
- Strong legal research, analytical, and writing skills.
- Interest in real estate/title law.
- Aptitude for processing and organizing large volumes of documentation and written communications.
- Clear, grammatically correct, and business-appropriate written and verbal communication.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects.
- Problem-solving ability to effectuate solutions for covered claims.

- $120,000 - $140,000 annually
