About the Role
Our international team is looking for a Junior Accountant to support financial operations and compliance across German entities. The role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles (e.g., IFRS, HGB) for accurate bookkeeping, reconciliations, and financial reporting, along with knowledge of local tax regulations (e.g., VAT) for correct postings and compliance.
Responsibilities
- Record daily financial transactions including AP, AR, Fixed Assets and Accruals
- Perform bank transaction postings and reconciliation including company debit cards
- Work closely with tax advisor to ensure correct and timely tax payments, such as CIT and VAT
- Work closely with local Accounting Managers to ensure reconciliation of IC balances
- Manage cost approval for incoming invoices
- Calculate and issue intercompany invoices according to transfer pricing policy
- Assist in the month-end and year-end financial close of German entities according to German GAAP (HGB) and IFRS
- Challenge and improve processes in the area of work and contribute to automation and digitalization
- Collaborate on accounting/finance projects as assigned
Requirements
- Ability to identify discrepancies, analyze financial data, and ensure precision in processing transactions and preparing reports
- Effective verbal and written communication skills to coordinate with internal teams, external advisors, and auditors
- Ability to explain financial matters clearly to non-financial stakeholders
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize deadlines, and maintain structured documentation
- Proactive in identifying inefficiencies and suggesting practical improvements to streamline operations and support automation initiatives
- High ethical standards and discretion in handling sensitive financial information
