About the Role
The Junior Policy Advisor and Assistant to the Director of Research & Policy will engage in policy-relevant work within the Policy Team, focusing on the MSC's core themes and developing a personal profile. This role involves supporting the preparation and follow-up of MSC events, drafting written contributions, and preparing speeches and briefings for senior leadership. The position also includes assisting with publications, providing content and administrative support to the Director of Research & Policy, and contributing to concept development.
Responsibilities
- Policy-relevant work within the Policy Team on MSC's core themes and developing a personal profile.
- Content preparation and follow-up for MSC events on a wide range of current security policy issues.
- Creation of written contributions and preparation of speeches, appointments, and press materials for the Chairman and other MSC executives.
- Contribution to publications on various security policy topics.
- Content and administrative support for the Director of Research & Policy, including appointment preparation and follow-up, research assistance, concept development, and occasional correspondence.
- Assisting with the content development of the MSC.
Requirements
- A very well-completed Master's degree in Political Science or related fields.
- Strong interest in researching foreign and security policy issues, particularly in German foreign policy, transatlantic relations, NATO, nuclear deterrence, European defense, and the global order.
- Initial professional experience in an academic and/or policy-related environment, preferably related to security policy.
- Very good knowledge of the foreign and security policy landscape in Germany, Europe, and the world.
- Strong intercultural competence and diplomatic tact.
- Excellent analytical skills and the ability to present complex issues precisely, appropriately, and understandably.
- Outstanding German and English language skills.
- Strong writing talent and experience in drafting various text formats (e.g., analyses, background papers, opinion pieces, speeches).
- Strong cooperation and teamwork skills, reliability, and high resilience.
