About the Role
The Policy Advisor will engage in policy-relevant work within the Policy Team, focusing on the MSC's core themes, particularly "Technology," and supporting the Tech Strategy Initiative. This role involves contributing to the preparation and follow-up of MSC events covering a wide range of current security policy issues.
Responsibilities
- Policy-relevant work within the Policy Team focusing on MSC's core themes, especially "Technology," and supporting the Tech Strategy Initiative.
- Assisting in the substantive preparation and follow-up of MSC events on current security policy topics.
- Creating written contributions and preparing speeches, appointments, and press materials for the Chairman and other MSC executives.
- Contributing to publications on the aforementioned focal points and other security policy issues.
Requirements
- A Master's degree in Political Science or a related field, with excellent academic standing.
- Demonstrated interest in and initial experience with emerging and disruptive technologies, with a willingness to deepen knowledge in these and related fields; experience with AI tools is advantageous.
- Several years of professional experience in a policy-related environment, preferably concerning security, technology, and digital policy issues (e.g., in ministries, think tanks, international organizations, consultancies, or industry).
- Excellent knowledge of the foreign and security policy landscape in Germany, Europe, and globally.
- Initial international experience, strong intercultural competence, and diplomatic tact.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to present complex issues precisely, appropriately, and understandably.
- Excellent German and English language skills (native or C2 level).
- Exceptional writing talent and experience in drafting various text formats (e.g., analyses, background papers, opinion pieces, speeches).
- Strong cooperation and teamwork skills, along with high resilience.
