About the Role
The Housekeeping Manager supervises housekeeping and laundry operations to ensure quality standards and optimal guest service, aligning with hotel and company business objectives. This role is responsible for maintaining a clean hotel, organized housekeeping and laundry areas, and managing linen and supply inventory security. The focus is on guest and associate satisfaction, expense control, and product quality to contribute to the hotel's overall goals.
Responsibilities
- Manage housekeeping and laundry operations to meet quality standards and provide optimal guest service.
- Ensure the hotel is properly supplied, guest expectations are met, and the hotel is maintained and clean.
- Ensure all staff are properly trained and have the necessary supplies and equipment.
- Lead the delivery of clean rooms that meet brand standards for time, product, and placement.
- Monitor performance and make recommendations for human resources actions with the Operations Manager.
- Recruit, develop, and manage Housekeeping staff with the Operations Manager.
- Inspect assigned suites and public areas for cleanliness and repair, advising employees of deficiencies and providing retraining.
- Perform housekeeping duties, including making beds and cleaning guest suites.
- Manage the hotel's laundry operation and the proper use of commercial laundry equipment with the Maintenance Manager.
- Inventory and maintain par levels for linen and supplies with the Operations Manager.
- Maintain procedures for security of lost and found items.
- Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication.
- Enforce hotel standards, policies, and procedures within the housekeeping department.
- Act as "Manager on duty" as required.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local health and safety laws.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Five years of housekeeping experience.
- Minimum of one year of supervisory training/experience.
- Previous experience in the extended stay industry is preferred.
- Ability to speak, read, and write fluent English; other languages are beneficial.
- Reading and writing abilities are required for effective communication, task completion, supply ordering, instruction comprehension, and equipment manual/safety information reading.
- Mathematical skills, including basic math, budgeting, profit/loss concepts, percentages, and variances.
- Problem-solving, reasoning, motivating, organizational, and training abilities.
- Ability to prioritize and organize work assignments.
- Experience with Microsoft Office is preferred.
- Must be able to stand, bend, climb, kneel, and move about the facility frequently.
- Will be required to regularly use commercial cleaning chemicals.
- Ability to carry, lift, or pull items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
